Details

The lighthouse, established in 1865, is among the oldest in the Canary Islands, reflecting a long-standing maritime heritage in the region.

Today, it is sustainably powered by a modern system comprising solar panels and batteries, which supply energy to a 150-watt electric halogen lamp. This powerful light can be seen up to 14 nautical miles away, ensuring safe passage for vessels navigating the area.

Perched 29 metres above sea level, the lighthouse is strategically situated on the island of Lobos, just off the coast of Fuerteventura, providing a vital navigational aid in this busy maritime zone.

Punta Martino Lighthouse on Lobos island since 1865 uses solar panels and batteries to guide ships safely in rough sails.
