Fuerteventura Blue Flag Beaches in 2025

The results for the prestigious Blue Flags awarded to beaches in 2025 have been announced. Spain has earned many Blue Flag Awards, once again including some of Canary Island’s many beaches. This year has again seen key recognitions for Fuerteventura Blue Flag Beaches in 2025 although one in Corralejo has lost its status.

To receive a Blue Flag, a beach must meet four important criteria:

Environmental Information and Education

• Beaches must have information signs, coastal ecosystems and nearby protected areas, along with rules for behavior.
• Towns must hold at least five environmental education activities each year.
• Blue Flag also encourages Blue Routes and Blue Centres on a voluntary basis.

Water Quality

• The beach water must be excellent at all testing points during the previous season, following the Bathing Water Quality Directive ↗. Official water samples must be taken regularly to maintain the status like Fuerteventura Blue Flag Beaches in 2025.
• The beach must meet the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive ↗.

Environmental Management

• The beach must follow environmental laws, especially the Coastal Law, and should be clean with good waste management, including recycling containers for paper, glass, etc.
• Beaches must have public toilets with at least one accessible to people with disabilities.

Safety and Services

• Beaches need to be safe and easy to get to, including for those with disabilities.
• There should be a first aider, along with rescue equipment.
