A Culinary & Sport Festival in Villaverde
The most important gastronomic and sports fair in Fuerteventura.
Where the fusion of gastronomy, sports, and live music creates a unique and vibrant experience. Since their inception in 2018, the festival has become the epicenter of fun and culture in Villaverde, born from the inspiring result of a trip that changed our perspective.
Local products and gastronomy of Paladea (Taste ) 2025 will take center stage in Villaverde from May 7 to 11,
The theme of this year’s edition is “Products from our land for consumption”.From a culinary point of view, this edition will offer a varied program of show cooking. Well-known chefs, such as Alberto Marín, will perform on Friday, May 9.
Culinary events
On Saturday, May 10, star chef Víctor Suárez will share his best culinary techniques with the participants. He will be joined by other renowned professionals such as Ángel Lirio, Yareli Pérez Vera and Jorge Carballeira. Marcos Gutiérrez will also give a cooking demonstration focusing on fish salting.
Other notable activities include the Mojo Picón Contest and the Majorero Stew Contest, organized by the Fuertegourmet Association. These contests will focus on traditional recipes reminiscent of dishes from the past.
The event also hosts the famous tapas competition. Creativity and taste will be rewarded with prizes such as the Golden Tapa, the Silver Tapa, the Bronze Tapa and the Tapa of the public’s choice.
The event also features an exhibition of gofio pellets and a day dedicated to older people. Traditional local dishes will be reinterpreted with local products. There are also activities for the little ones, such as cooking workshops at Paladea Kid. Culinary experiences will be available through Paladea Schools for primary school children.
There will be no shortage of drinks either. Victoria beer, wines from the Tindama winery in La Oliva, Arautaba wines from Tenerife, and Piedras de San Pedro wines from the Riviera del Duero will be sampled during the event. Paladea also offers a master class on Arehucas rum. Additionally, there will be a session on the world of gin and tonic with Royal Bliss Tonic.
Sport events in Paladea
On the sporting front, there are various events. These include a 44 km mountain bike race, a 32 km cross-country run, a 10 km hiking route from Lajares to Villaverde, and two parkour exhibitions. The artisan market also offers local products and handcrafted creations. Finally, the atmosphere will be boosted with live music, with groups such as Los 600, Los Aseres, Escuela de Calor, DJ Maxi, and Tributo a Sabina – 500 Noches Banda.
Paladea has managed to become a reference point for gastronomy and sport. This is true not only on the island but also in the province of Las Palmas. It is important to continue supporting culinary traditions, local products and sportspeople in this unique event in the municipality of La Oliva.”
