La Lajita is a coastal town located to the east of the municipality of Pájara. It is located 12 km from the tourist area of Costa Calma. Currently, 1,796 inhabitants live in La Lajita and it is 26 km from the town of Pájara. It is also host to Oasis Park zoo. Traditionally dedicated to agriculture, livestock and fishing, the latter being artisanal, like other towns in the municipality, the new generations have also joined the tourism service. In the last decade, it has experienced a significant urban development due to the progress of tourism, the cause is due to the proximity of this town to one of the most important tourist centers of the Municipality located just 12 km away in Costa Calma. This fact has not prevented La Lajita from losing its charm as a coastal town, because in addition to its beautiful black sand beach where we can find numerous boats dedicated to artisanal fishing, we must add the conservation of the structure of the old houses.
