The Fuerteventura Music Festival makes a much-anticipated return to the beautiful sands of Playa de la Concha on 4th and 5th July.
Boasting an eclectic, international lineup topped by one of this summer’s most sought-after groups, G-5. This supergroup — comprising some of the brightest stars in contemporary rumba, including Kiko Veneno, Muchachito, El Canijo de Jerez, Diego Ratón (Los Delinquentes), and Tomasito — arrive with fresh material and the reissue of their debut album, the legendary Tucaratupapi, which marked their journey in 2006.

In addition to G-5, the FEM stage will also feature one of the most renowned names in current reggae, Queen Omega & The Royals Souls from Trinidad, promising a vibrant celebration of musical diversity.

On Friday, 4th July, attendees can look forward to performances by G-5, Lehmanns Brothers (France), Natalia Doco (Argentina), Calle Mambo (Chile), and the local band Rabiche, led by Fajardo.

The following night, Saturday 5th July, will see Queen Omega take the stage, alongside Galician electronic pioneer Baiuca, Italian band Roy Paci & Aretuska, Dutch ensemble Kraak & Smaak. Tenerife’s own David El Majorero, who will introduce his latest project Contraventura will follow. Both evenings will be hosted by Tenerife-based DJ Carballeira, a seasoned DJ with over 30 years of experience in the Canary Islands’ cultural scene.

Lola García,the president of the Cabildo, announced that “this event has enjoyed a deep-rooted presence on our island for over twenty years, promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives, fostering a meeting point for music and cultures, and showcasing our local artists.” García also noted that “it plays a significant role in boosting the northern region’s economy.”

Rayco León, Minister of Culture, underscored the event’s international appeal, stating, “These two nights will kick off the summer with a stellar line-up of international, national, and Canary Island artists, reinforcing our message of multiculturalism and sustainability.”

Isaí Blanco, mayor of La Oliva, added, “Every year, El Cotillo hosts one of the island’s most important festivals, attracting artists from around the globe. We are proud that our municipality promotes culture and music for both residents and visitors, always with a focus on respecting and protecting our natural environment.”

Mario Alonso, artistic director of FEM 2024, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the Cabildo for giving us the opportunity to assemble a lineup headlined by some of the foremost flamenco-rock musicians and Queen Omega, a prominent reggae figure, which is a must at FEM.”

FEM 2024 Artists

G-5  is often called a supergroup — or, in their own words, a ghost group. Formed in 2006 by Kiko Veneno, El Canijo de Jerez, Diego Ratón of Los Delinquentes, Muchachito, and Tomasito, they released a single album, Tucaratupapi, which is currently out of print and unavailable on digital platforms. However, this iconic album is being reissued on vinyl and will be restored digitally, with a remixed and remastered edition. Fans can also look forward to new material emerging this spring from their recent collaborations.

Queen Omega comes from Trinidad and is renowned for her reggae. Her dub track “No Love” and her hit with Little Lion Sound on Next Episode Riddim, which has received over 120 million plays globally and praise from icons like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, cement her reputation. Her 2023 album, “Freedom Legacy,” released on Baco Records, showcases her diverse influences, blending authentic lyrics with a rich tapestry of musical styles.

Baiuca is an innovative project merging traditional Galician music with modern electronic sounds. With albums like “Solpor” and “Embruxo,” and collaborations such as “Adélia” with Portuguese band HAEMA and “Diamante / La Nana” with Alba Reche, Alejandro Guillán has revolutionised musical fusion, making waves within Galicia and beyond.

Roy Paci is a celebrated singer, trumpeter, composer, and producer from Italy. Over a career spanning four decades, he has contributed to over 500 albums and collaborated with major artists including Manu Chao, Mike Patton, Gogol Bordello, Vinicio Capossela, and many more. His band, Aretuska, mixes Mediterranean, Latin, ska, reggae, R&B, and jazz influences, delivering energetic performances that have captivated audiences across Europe and Latin America. Additionally, his work in film, theatre, and television has earned numerous awards, including the prestigious Nastro d’Argento and a David di Donatello nomination.

Kraak & Smaak combine electronic beats with a warm, uplifting vibe. The Dutch trio — Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug, and Mark Kneppers — are known for their dynamic live shows and award-winning albums like “Boogie Angst,” which blend disco, funk, deep house, and pop, performing across the globe from Europe to Asia.

Natalia Doco has been based in Paris since 2012. Her debut album, Mucho Chino, released in 2014, earned her critical acclaim and a Bellinger-Lapérouse tour across France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland. In her pursuit of creative independence, she established her own record label, Casa del Árbol, and collaborated with Axel Krygier on her second album, El Buen Gualicho. Deeply inspired by her South American roots, Natalia’s music features an authentic and enchanting blend of influences that reflect her heritage.

Drawing new energy from it, summoning the moon and the spirits, and embodying the ancestral feminine power of her many voices.

Calle Mambo  is a Chilean group formed in 2013 and is back in Europe from April to October 2025 to present their third album “Retumba la Tierra” (6 June 2025). Following their successful European tours in the summers of 2023 and 2024—comprising 80 concerts and festivals across Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, and Holland—plus appearances on prestigious stages such as El Quai Branly (Paris), Le Festival du Bout du Monde, Tempo Latino, and Sfinks, Calle Mambo returns to Europe in 2025 to share their vibrant Latin music, including Huayno, Cumbia, Timba, Caporal, and more!

Rabiche is a dynamic band rooted in rumba music. A powerful ensemble that brings together five talented Canarian musicians with substantial experience both locally and nationally: José Antonio Fajardo from Fuerteventura, Diego Hernández (known from The Conqueror Project), Carlos Pérez, Jorge Hernández, Manuel C., and Julio Armas.

Rabiche stands at an exciting crossroads of various musical genres originating from Tenerife. Their early efforts have been documented by Tenerife-based filmmaker Miguel G. Morales. Their upcoming concert at FEM marks Rabiche’s debut in Fuerteventura, offering audiences a chance to experience their compelling live performance.

Leading the group is David Rodríguez Santana, affectionately known as “David El Majorero,” who holds a degree in psychopedagogy and a diploma in Music Education from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. His initial musical training was under the guidance of renowned timple master Domingo Rodríguez Oramas, “El Colorao.” Beyond the timple, David also studies classical guitar with teachers like Blas Sánchez, Juan Carlos Pérez Brito, and Andrea Dieci. He is also the author of “Coplas y romances de Fuerteventura” and has explored the island’s musical roots through his album “Raíces de Maxorata.”

David now presents his new project, “ContraVentura,” which delves into the rich roots of the Canary Islands and his native Fuerteventura. Using sounds generated by traditional instruments like the timple and the contra majorera—chordophones with evolving styles and potentials—this project seeks to rediscover and reimagine the musical history of the region, blending tradition with contemporary expression.

Carballeira DJ is a cultural manager with extensive experience in designing, producing, and managing cultural projects. He also organises artistic events and teaches music-related subjects. Describing himself as a “partisan and urban planner of sound,” he seeks to explore the essence of music—the search for sound, its moment, energy, and origin. For Carballeira DJ, dancing is a “plural verb,” embodying collective expression and cultural vitality through rhythm and sound.
